Google was quiet in news from this past year (2011-12) due to the critical update affecting the majority of us within the web. Google serp's redirected to malicious random sites is actually a characteristic of Google Redirect Virus. As all internet communications likely to and from China traverses routers belonging to the Chinese government, politically sensitive queries were blocked from making it to Google's servers, the service was developed slow and unreliable, and frequently unavailable for longer amounts of time as search queries were re-routed to local Chinese search engines.
